We’re a group of Queensland residents who have come together to challenge unfair and inaccurate water billing caused by inappropriate water meter installations.
After Urban Utilities replaced older meters with a new ultrasonic model across South East Queensland, residents began receiving inflated water bills that didn’t match their actual usage.

These meters are highly sensitive to pressure fluctuations and, without proper backflow prevention devices, can record false water use and leave owners paying for water that never left their taps.
Our aims our simple:
- Fair and accurate water billing for all residents.
- Transparency and accountability from Urban Utilities.
- Rectification of water meter equipment by Urban Utilities.
- Refund of all payments made for false water bills.
We believe no customer should be charged for water they haven’t used, and that Urban Utilities must take responsibility when their equipment produces false readings.
We are currently gathering evidence, engaging with elected members, and supporting affected residents to ensure this issue is addressed and that future meter replacements are done properly, with the right infrastructure and oversight.
